The Festival della canzone italiana di Sanremo (English: Italian song festival, Sanremo) is a music competition organised by Italian public broadcasters RAI. It determines the country's representative for Own Eurovision Song Contest. It was introduced in the forty-fifth edition of the contest.

Selection of participantsEdit

Artists and songsEdit

Every artist, unknown or new artists get the chance to show off their talent in Festival di Sanremo. Every artist should be Italian or have strong connection with the country. Artists from other countries or regions are not allowed to enter the competition.

FormatEdit

Each edition consists of one show with a different amount of songs by different artists. Each artist performs their song once live. The winner of the selection will be the one who gets the most votes of the international jury and the Italian public combined.

SeasonsEdit

First seasonEdit

The first season was used for the Own Eurovision Song Contest 45. Six songs competed in a final. After the results, two entries were tied. A super-final was held to determine the best of the two songs. Simonetta Spiri, Greta Manuzi, Verdiana Zangaro and Roberta Pompa with the song "L'amore merita" won the festival with 73.68 % against Joan Thiele.

Second seasonEdit

The second season was used for the Own Eurovision Song Contest 46. Six songs competed. The winner was declared Lorenzo Fragola with the song "Luce che entra" who won the festival with 56 points. The runner-up, Chiara Grispo received 50 points.

Third seasonEdit

The third season was used for the Own Eurovision Song Contest 47. Three songs competed. The winner was declared Roshelle with the song "What U Do to Me" who received 58,33% of the votes, winning against Lacuna Coil who received an amount of 29.17%.

Fourth seasonEdit

The fourth season was used for the Own Eurovision Song Contest 48. Three songs competed. The winner was Sejo with the song "Too Young" who received 66.67% of the votes, winning against Halfives who received an amount of 22.22%.
